Gay teen kidnapped by family: They threatened to kill me

Nineteen-year-old drag queen says was beaten, kidnapped twice by relatives who want to 'set him back on right path'. Angel, 19, was sitting in the Yiftah District Police offices, trying to recuperate from the traumatic event he endured after being kidnapped by family members for the second time. The young homosexual, who performs as a drag-queen, grew up in the Arab village of Tamra, in northern Israel.

Homophobia will thrive in sports as long as hyper-masculinity prevails

When Edmonton Capitals Manager Brent Bowers went on a homophobic tirade against a gay umpire, the sports world hardly took notice. It took the courage of the umpire's heterosexual colleagues to denounce Bowers's hate speech by threatening a league boycott before North American Golden Baseball League management took significant action and ultimately suspended Bowers for the remainder of the season. Bowers reportedly resigned, before being fired by Edmonton Capitals management.

UK: Gay vote minister blasted

A MINISTER who last week revealed he is gay was accused of hypocrisy yesterday after opposing pro-gay legislation in Parliament. Prisons minister Crispin Blunt said in one debate that homosexuality is "not equivalent to heterosexuality".

Despite the wet weather in London, UK Black Pride held its fifth annual event in Regent’s Park last Saturday. The day after, I was lying in bed catching up on the news online when I saw a PinkNews.co.uk article on the festival. The comments from some readers towards the black and Asian community caught my attention. These posts alarmed but did not surprise me. This led me to think, is gay racism a fact or myth?

Last month, quietly, under the nose of the ayatollah regime, a group of Iranian homosexuals decided to celebrate the national LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender) day. Naturally, however, they were unable to march through the streets of Tehran waving the rainbow Pride flags as they passed the house of President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.

German court: gay couples get inheritance equality

Germany’s highest court ruled Tuesday, Aug. 17 that gay couples in civil partnerships are entitled to benefit from the same favorable inheritance tax rules as married heterosexual couples. The Federal Constitutional Court decided in favor of two gay plaintiffs who had each lost their partner and contested rules under which they had to pay inheritance tax as if they were distant relatives of the deceased.
