Hey Nina,
Glad you liked my painting. Your de_script_ion of it is as “collapsed stairway” gave me a whole different perspective on the piece and that is what abstract art strives to achieve. It was inspired by the architecture of London; I think a “collapsed stairway” is a fitting response as London is constantly falling down and being rebuilt.
Misinterpretation: I don’t think there is that worry with abstract art, you can’t get it wrong because it’s your own personal response to what is before you. Everyone has a different truth, even in regards to everyday life. Abstract art celebrates this to the full. It respects the individual, allows you to trust your own judgment.
Romanticism evokes deep intense emotions and has respect for nature in the most radical way. I guess my preference lies with a less realist painting technique even though I realize romanticism is about imagination and personal truth too.
Hey Hiraaye,
Jenny Saville paints a lot naked fat women as well and in 2009 she sold one for half a million. I don’t think it’s just fatty women’s work that dominates the market however; there seems to be a constant need from society to view women as sex _object_s and it permits the slim physique as the only true depiction of feminine beauty. Artists take advantage and create this kind of paintings to shock and in turn this makes money for them, lots of it.
The art world has not gone mad but there is a lot of manipulation from people who invest sh**t loads of money in art and when there's fear of the artwork devaluing in price, they apparently buy their own work from themselves in order to keep its value. This takes away the works integrity and it’s sad.
Anyhow, would it be better for you if they were fatty guys?lol
