I have come across gay people who only feel comfortable having gay friends.
Are you one of these people??
Why do you feel the need for only gay friends?
Would gay people do more for the community by choosing to not pigeon hole themselves just in their communities?
What are your thoughts???

I've had and have gay friends at one point i only had "gay somali friends". And what i found was low level warfare between people ect..

Now though i'd rather have mixed friends i enjoy my str8 friends more though, since somtimes in a gay crowd some jealousy can bleed out and gossip.I am not the gossip type and hate jealousy for one reason or another,

Also the gay friends i surround my self with these days have a str8 way of talking, and behaving in other words they dont need to be flamboyant to be gay... they are just them slef
with out the wrist snapping and swishy walk
and that "typical universal gay talk" no offense to anyone

It is a strange one with gay people when i first went on to the gay scene many sunsets ago,i hung out mainly with gay people.
This was useful in that it allowed for me to be open about my sexuality with other human beings without feeling scared of retaliation or abuse .
What i found interesting about his group was that the women were the more switched on ,the men were more interested in talking bout sex and how many different partners they had.(which is cool sometime but can get tiresome after a while of hearing the same pattern)

The women to me seemed a little more complex in the conversations that we shared and were more adapt at recognizing others behavior patterns too.
What i found interesting is that although we all shared a space together the gay men were quietly suspicious of the women and the same was true of the women and their thoughts towards the man.

I left the gay scene because it just sucked to me,i found the men very one dimensional and full of the most annoying superficial pretensions.
As you said yourself ,bitchy,trivial talkers only absorbed about being gay and surrounded by just gay people.

Even now that i have checked the scene out again i have meet next to nobody that i would hang out with and spend time with.
The only exceptions are the 2 beautiful women and beautiful dude i have met through this site.

Mainstream gay culture is very throw away ,it is like an advertising billboard that gets updated on a regular basis with beautiful looking people selling a fickle life _style_ where money is the driving catalyst needed to buy into this dream.
You see lots ,and i have met lots of guys who see you as someone who is going to support them because they are young and handsome.

The things that i have mentioned can also be said of straight culture,it is just unfortunate that there is a massive amount of gay people that are just confirming the obvious.
I would also question if gay safe environments are not breeding this culture of gay robots ?

yea pertty much like you stated i could'nt put it any better...Its nice when you frist come out and to be surrounded by gay people...But it dies out fast as many are in the same place, doing the same things and so forth...some of woman i connected with better in conversation.
Also alot of the gay guys whom i hung out with were trying to get with me or sleep with me, instead of just being friends many were'nt too good lookin or older. I just started to feel uncomfortable and when u turn them down they become some one else...all they are about is sex, clubs, malls and thatsa bout it

i don't have a agay friends at all.. all my friends are str8.. i dont know but i use to it now.. i use to hide my sexuality all muy life coz of the environment that i lived in.. so that i have only str8 friends.. wish to have a a gay friends who can understand me and loves me as i am the real me.. not by my other personality which is str8.. i act and go out with girls like str8 so no one can know about me.. but if u r surrounded by gay friends .. i dont know but i feel that it will be more comfortable for me .. to expose my feelings with someone can understand me

I really do understand wat u are sayin.
I have to act all str8 and go out with girls all the tyme. But thats jus a cover.I have gay freinds but they are not Somalis and i jus keep them at distance wen am with my Somali friends.
