Any Artists on here??? 1 Year, 10 Months ago Karma: 6
Hey all,
I was just wondering if any of you guys and girls are into visual creativity? Apart from the many poetry writers we have on here, I don't think I've come across anyone who is an artist.
I think it would be great if we could have discussions on art.

I'm studying Fine Art and I've also studied bit of photography in the past.
I absolutely love painting abstract paintings but I kinda still keep an open mind about all forms of creations, whatever it may-be.
My favorite artists include, Jackson Pollock/William De Kooning and many more..

Be really interesting to know I'm not the only Somali artist out-there. So come on you closet Somalis.

What do you guys think of contemporary art?

That is an interesting field. Do you also paint naked people? If you do, it must be a lot of fun. As the gay people are over represented in the creative fields like yours, I am sure you are not alone here. When I was younger, I used to draw all sorts of things. I think, art is something which is an integral part of every gay person. Its probably part of our nature!!

I love arts so much
But not a huge fan of Jackson Pollock or "dripping" as matter of fact. Its like giving a drunk,which he was, a brush and letting them splat paint on a Canvas. I don't know i cant see what's so great about it.
But i do love this piece of him : http://lucileee.blog.lemonde.fr/files/2008/10/jackson-pollock.1222815880.jpg

My favorite artist has to be Eugene Delacroix.He drew great boobs all the time ha ha Jk. But seriously though he was a great artist. Used somber colors and depicted the atrocity of wars even though he was considered a Romantic artist.

Hey Hiraaye,
I’m not that kind of artist, I don’t paint naked people but when I was doing my Access to Art & Design course they brought this lady for us to draw and she was smoking hot. I found myself being really shy although I’m totally not a shy soul. Anyway, I do a lot of abstract work rather than figurative, which I absolutely love doing. There so much freedom with expressive _style_s, less contrived and freer approach wins for me every time. However, there is an obsession with conceptualized art, in my personal opinion I think...its bollocks!

@Mustafa,
Hats off to you mate; you’re in Hargeisa and pursuing your creative talents. I know how much the general population over there is not into art and that it takes great determination to follow your dreams. Respect to you man.

@Nina
Yes he was a drunk and even a wife beater, unacceptable behaviors’ but unfortunately, genius is not necessarily synonymous with being a decent human being. He changed America’s approach to modern art completely, which a lot has to be said for, given that not many romanticists in history achieved such a creative revolution which had such far reaching influence. You can relate most contemporary art created in the last sixty years back to him; he unchained the whole concept of what art is, opening us to new possibilities of deep visual communication and understanding of our environment and space. Romanticists capture what the eye sees. With _expression_ism there is so much freedom and imagination left for the viewer and that is liberation for the mind.

The “dripping” well I have to say its all part of the dynamics of the technique he developed. I believe there is so much beyond what we see and this method of creating brings new dimensions to reaching emotions whatever they may be.
Check out these, some of my abstracts and tell me what you think?

Oh wow it's really beautiful! If you made that you definitely have talent.

You see for you it's easy to understand the message conveyed behind an abstract piece cause you're an artist. I spent about a good 5 minutes trying to figure out what this art means.
I would say its like a collapsed stairway and this is the remains of it.
And i couldn't even tell you nothing about the use of the color,lights,lines or forms and what it means.lol
It's so complex to me.

Sure Abstract art, non figurative art,cubism and all those modern arts let your imagination run wild. But i think it leaves space to misinterpretation. Where is the message the artist tried to convey?
"Romanticists capture what the eye sees"
Not really though...Almost None of these artists were present in a battle field or during a riot. SO to a certain extent De Lacroix had to use his imagination to create the scenery,the characters or wtv .
"La Liberté guidant le peuple" By Eugene De La croix has made a big impact in France.Mariana who is the main persona on the piece has become the face of Liberty,Democracy and Republic for France.She is a fictive character that the artist has created.
One can look at this Art piece and say what it means to them. And another individual could debate otherwise and vice verse
But at the end we know what the artist wanted us to see.
And that's what i like about Romanticists. It has a historical tag with it.
I hope this made sense.
None the less i do appreciate all art.

Hi girls, you really know your stuff. In an art class, if they bring in a hot guy for us to draw, can I just concentrate on two vital areas and not waste my time on the whole body? I mean who really needs the head and hands? Also I would not appreciate if they bring in an obese woman. I would have fled the studio even if it was an exam.
