UK: Catholic charity's appeal over gay adoption fails

A Roman Catholic adoption charity's appeal to be allowed to discriminate against gay people wanting it to place children with them has been rejected. Catholic Care wanted exemption from new anti-discrimination laws so it could limit services provided to homosexual couples on religious grounds.

Chi, a 23-year-old lesbian, told researchers that her parents locked her in a virtual prison after learning of her relationships with other women. “It was such a horrifying time. My parents knew Diep and I loved each other. They seized my cell phone, cut the home phone line and locked me in our house... They always went through my pockets to see if Diep had sent something to me. They even beat and insulted me,” she told researchers from the Institute for Study of Society, the Economy and the Environment (ISEE).

Hong Kong trans woman launches fight to marry

A trans woman in Hong King has begun a legal fight for the right to marry her boyfriend. The woman, who has not been named, is barred under city law from changing her birth certificate to female. Authorities told her that her marriage would be classed as a same-sex marriage, which is not legal.

iPhone meat market sparks gay sex revolution

A location-aware iPhone app has spawned a sexual revolution in Australia's gay community by providing what is effectively a meat market enabling people to meet other gay men who may be just metres away from them. In bars, restaurants or just walking down the street, users of the Grindr application can fire it up and see a list of other gay men in their area sorted by how far away they are. They can choose to start up a chat through the app or walk over and say hi.

Stonewall FC have successfully defended their title of Gay Games Champions after defeating USA's Florida United FC 2-1 in Cologne on Saturday. Stonewall FC defended their title in Cologne following their success four years ago when they won gold at the Chicago Gay Games.
