The initiative hopes to counter the myth that HIV can only be caught if men are "bottoms".

Police raid gay bar, arrest 14 male strippers

Operatives of the Manila Police District (MPD) raided a gay bar in Sta. Cruz, Manila, before dawn Friday and arrested more than 20 persons, including 14 male strippers, for allegedly presenting lewd shows to its patrons and for working without permit.

Hawaii May Allow Same-Sex Civil Unions

Hawaii may very well be the next state to allow same-sex civil unions, possibly as early as next week. On Friday, the tropical state passed a same-sex civil union bill through its Senate, setting it up to move on to Hawaii’s House of Representatives for final passage. The bill passed through the Senate with a vote of 18-7 in favor.

BBC to ask public about its portrayal of gay people

The BBC has commissioned a wide-ranging investigation into how lesbian, gay and bisexual people are portrayed on TV, radio and online.
The research will ask a variety of people across the country what they think about subjects such as jokes, dramatic storylines and stereotyping.

Nepal will play host to a royal wedding with a difference when an openly gay Indian prince marries his partner at a Hindu temple in Kathmandu. The ceremony is the start of what a Nepalese politician, Sunil Babu Pant, hopes will become a lucrative business for his country, whose tourist industry is still reeling from the effects of a decade-long civil war that ended in 2006.

The organiser of an initiative to help gay people feel confident holding hands in public is celebrating the spread of the movement across the world. Gay rights activist David Watkins began the monthly event last year and has been asking participants around the globe to email pictures of themselves standing hand-in-hand with a loved one or friend.

India awaits final ruling on gay sex

The Indian Supreme Court is expected to give a final ruling on repealing the ban on gay sex next month. Last year, the Delhi High Court ruled that the colonial-era law was unconstitutional. Although this decision applied only to the jurisdiction of Delhi, gay rights campaigners hope it will persuade other areas to follow suit.
