BT furthers commitment to equality with launch of new website
Posted by Administrator
Telecoms giant BT has launched a new website to provide lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and intersex (LGBTI) people with essential business travel information. The firm has teamed up with the International Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans and Intersex Association (ILGA) to provide information on policies, laws and resources across the globe.
The website, featuring an interactive map of the world, will allow members to learn about laws governing areas such as marriage, adoption, health and relationships, as well as learn about the social climate of a country at any given time.
Employees in companies such as BT, which employs over 100,000 people in 63 different countries, will be able to access important information before they travel. This will ensure safer and more productive staff trips.
The news comes following BT’s award last year, when the International Gay and Lesbian Chamber of Commerce (IGLCC) named them the most gay friendly corporation in the world.
Caroline Waters, Director, People and Policy, BT group, comments: “Companies cannot afford to be complacent when sending valued employees around the world. There are things that are vital they should know, and the vast membership of ILGA has the knowledge they need. We hope this website acts as a valuable tool for people to understand the realities lived by lesbians, gays, bisexuals, trans-gender and intersex people across the world.”
