Gay serial killer convicted in Louisiana

A Louisiana court has sentenced a gay serial killer for the rape and murder of eight young men in the bayou region of the southern United States.
Ronald Dominique, 44, had lured his victims to his house by promising to pay for sex or by showing them a picture of an attractive woman.
He had then persuaded them to let him tie them up - ostensibly as part of a sex game - before raping and strangling them.
He dumped the bodies in sugar cane fields and nearby bayous - slow-moving streams and pools of the Mississippi delta - often without their shoes.
Relatives of Dominique's victims sobbed in court as the murderer was given eight consecutive life sentences after pleading guilty.
"The lives of eight young men were taken from these families by the actions of the defendant," said the assistant district attorney Mark Rhodes. "He knew nothing about them or their families and he callously killed the victims and left a lifetime of pain as their legacy."
Standing hunched and shackled in the courtroom, Dominique bowed his head as district judge Randy Bethancourt read out the names of his victims and passed sentence.
The killings occurred over a 10-year period before Dominique's arrest in December 2006, while he worked a series of menial jobs in Bayou Blue, a Cajun settlement 60 miles from New Orleans.
"I'll miss him to the day I die," a sobbing Chris Cunningham testified about his brother, Kurt Cunningham, one of Dominique's victims. "I hope hell finds you fast."
